About Houlton Hounds Dog Walking & Pet Care

Houlton Hounds was built from a lifelong love of animals and the belief that pets are family.

We’ve owned dogs since childhood, rescued and rehomed many over the years, and are now proud owners of Cari — our beautiful five-year-old Cockerpoo (short for Cariad, the Welsh word for “love”).

What started as a passion quickly grew into a trusted local business. Today, we are proud to have a team of eight dedicated pet carers, all committed to providing safe, reliable and compassionate care tailored to each client’s individual needs.

Sue previously ran a successful fitness business before retiring — but retirement didn’t last long! Combining our active lifestyle and love of the outdoors, dog walking and pet sitting was the perfect next chapter for us.

We offer dog walking, cat feeding, pet visits and house sitting, always with your pets’ wellbeing as our priority.

From 2027, Trev and Sue will also be offering mobile national pet sitting services, while our trusted team continues to care for pets locally.

Sue was the perfect chaperone for Bertie, our fluffy ring bearer! Sue came to see us before the wedding and was happy to do whatever we needed to fit around the plan for the day. She was a total reassurance. Having so much to juggle to organise the wedding, it’s a blessing to have someone like Sue to make one part as easy as possible. She brought Bertie to the venue and made him incredibly calm and relaxed before his big moment. She had Bertie dressed up and ready to steal the show! Everything ran perfectly and we are so grateful. Knowing Bertie was in safe hands when he left the venue made sure we could fully enjoy the rest of the day. Sue made sure Bertie had been walked before the wedding and the morning after, as well as staying with him overnight at our home. You were a legend, thank you! Sue and Trevor were absolutely incredible from start to finish. Having them chaperone Vince for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. They ensured everything ran seamlessly, and seeing Vince suited and booted was such a special and unforgettable moment.

Throughout the entire weekend, they cared for him so thoughtfully and professionally, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy every part of our celebration without a single worry. It was clear how much love and attention they gave him, and we felt completely at ease knowing he was in such capable hands.

Sue cared for our pup Alma throughout our wedding day and then stayed with her in our home overnight. She went above and beyond making numerous visits to our house beforehand to build a relationship with Alma and make sure she would be comfortable throughout the day and night. Sue did a wonderful job in keeping her calm and ensuring she could be involved in the ceremony and wedding pictures. Sue was great, doing extra visits, checking he wasn't locked in wardrobes, checking cat flap was working properly and posting on the residents FB page and following up potential sightings. She was constantly providing updates. He eventually turned up after Sue visited a resident who contacted her. Houlton hounds going above and beyond.

22 Apr 2022 - I feel like we hit the dog walker jackpot when Sue and her husband moved to Houlton and set up their business. Sue’s been super helpful, flexible, and organised and having her has helped make the dreaded return to office so much less painful. My doggos absolutely adore her and are super excited to go for walkies when she comes to get them. My older dog has terrible separation anxiety and used to hate going out without me when I worked from home but with Sue this quickly turned to excitement and bounding out the door with eager wagging tails.
Sue has also recently expanded her engagement to sort out secure fields for doggies to socialise which is a fantastic idea. I can’t recommend her enough but hopefully not so much that she gets too busy 🤣🤣

4 Aug 2024 - Houlton Hounds have walked my dog Ayla since I moved to Hillmorton in March, they have a really easy to use website booking system and a WhatsApp group with anyone who walks her. It’s so easy to organise and it’s clear everyone who’s walked Ayla cares for her with lots of lovely pictures on every walk. I’d recommend them to anyone in need of pet care!

7 Apr 2024 - What a fantastic local business - we were able to go on a once in a lifetime 3 week trip and with the support of family and Houlton Hounds, our little kitties were so well looked after and happy. We were really able to relax and enjoy ourselves knowing the cats were being looked after by Sue. Sue is constantly going the extra mile and it is clear she really cares about the animals and what she does. I would very much recommend, we will be using their services for years to come!

She has all the correct forms & insurance to ensure your pet will be safe, communicates regularly and provides a full briefing way ahead of time. Not only this, but Sue goes above and beyond to ensure everything goes to plan. I think what best demonstrates Sues professionalism and helpfulness is that not only did she provide pictures of updates of our dog throughout the day but she also washed up all of our glasses that had been left when we rushed out in the morning. 22 Apr 2022 - I feel like we hit the dog walker jackpot when Sue and her husband moved to Houlton and set up their business. Sue’s been super helpful, flexible, and organised and having her has helped make the dreaded return to office so much less painful. My doggos absolutely adore her and are super excited to go for walkies when she comes to get them. My older dog has terrible separation anxiety and used to hate going out without me when I worked from home but with Sue this quickly turned to excitement and bounding out the door with eager wagging tails.
Sue has also recently expanded her engagement to sort out secure fields for doggies to socialise which is a fantastic idea. I can’t recommend her enough but hopefully not so much that she gets too busy 🤣🤣
