A criminal record check is now an essential element in the recruitment process for a pet owner if you are going to be holding keys to enter the owners home while they are not there; you need to have a basic disclosure check done.

By having a basic disclosure criminal record check through NarpsUK you can give your clients peace of mind.

If you have lived at your current address for over a year you can apply online for £25.00

However if you have lived at your current address for less than one year, we can offer you a basic disclosure criminal record check at a cost of £65.00. After making this payment you will receive an email confirmation with a link to your application form which you will complete and submit along with two forms of ID. Your results will be returned in 10 - 15 days from when your application is sent for processing. Once your basic disclosure is complete you will receive a hard copy of your certificate in the post.

Code of Practice

Disclosure information is information contained in criminal record certificates under the Police Act 1997 as such it is sensitive information that needs to be dealt with in a disciplined and respectful manner.

The code of practice sets out the requirements for everyone participating in the Disclosure process. The code of practice is intended to ensure that sensitive personal information is:

  • Handled and stored appropriately
  • Kept only for as long as necessary
  • Used fairly and provides assurances to applicants

It is important that individuals are made aware of their rights through the use of written policies which are to be made available to them upon request.

To fulfil their obligations we require customers to enter into agreement to ensure the Code of practice is upheld. Strict guidelines and controls ensure information is protected throughout the process. By following these guidelines and controls organisations can fulfil their obligations without difficulty. It is only possible therefore to give a synopsis here of the rights and expectations of those that use the service. As part of the service we provide customers with policies and guidance to assist organisations in fulfilling their responsibilities and to ensure applicants are made aware of their rights.
