About Us

My name is Helen and with We Like Walkies I provide professional dog walking services in South Shields and surrounding areas such as Whitburn, Boldon and Cleadon.

My family has owned dogs all my life and I have personally owned dogs for twenty six years. My dogs Pip and Jess, Patterdale Terriers, give me hours of endless fun and love long walks. In 2016, after many years working in public sector management and customer services I decided to take the plunge and realise my dream of setting up a dog walking business to give other busy people, or people who are no longer able, the opportunity for their dog/s to be walked in a safe and trustworthy environment.

Owning a dog is a big commitment but sometimes, due to holidays, illness, work commitments, hospitalisation or other unforeseen circumstances, it may become difficult to care for your dog during the daytime.

When you get in touch with me I will arrange a free, no obligation consultation meeting with you and your dog/s, so I can get to know you and understand you and your dog’s requirements.

Services We Provide

Our hours of service are 09.00-17.00, Monday to Friday. Other days/times by arrangement.

Dog Walking

We Like Walkies offer group and individual dog walks to suit your needs and the needs of your pet.  

Group walks take place between 11.30am-2.30pm in groups of up to four compatible dogs. These are great for socialising your dog and ensuring they get plenty of exercise with other pets.  Walks last an hour and this does not include pick up and drop off times. I will never walk your dog off the lead without your prior consent. All of our preferred dog walking sites are away from traffic.

On returning your pet to your home they will be dried down if necessary and given a drink of water.

Pop in Service to Feed Animals

We can arrange to pop in to feed small animals during the day.

Areas We Like to Walk

Locally we are blessed with many great local places to walk dogs that are safe and away from traffic.

Examples of places we like to walk are:

• South Shields Foreshore, Trow Quarry and the Leas (please note that between May and September dogs are not allowed on Sandhaven Beach). The Promenade is a great place to exercise dogs in the winter months as it is well lit and away from traffic.
• Marsden Old Quarry Nature Reserve and Marsden Craggs
• Cleadon Hills, including Bede’s Way along to Whitburn
• Chuter Ede fields and Tilesheds (East Boldon) footpaths
• Temple Memorial Park
• Moor Lane, Cleadon (footpaths behind football training ground)
• River Don walkways (accessed via Biddick Hall or Boldon Colliery)
• Whitburn Coastal Park
• Marsden Bay
